WARDHAV MERCY’S TOP 10 SNEAKERS OF 2011
2011 was definitely a good year for sneakers, I damn near went broke trying to support my fetish. I agree with Panda Fresh though, its hard as hell to narrow it down to just 10, but here are some of my favs…
#10 – Nike Air Flow
The Nike Air Flow originally released in 89 was definitely a running shoe that has influenced all the ones to come after it.
#9 – Cigars
Todd Bratrud and Nike SB did it again with this one! Nike SB always does a lot of collaborations but when they team up with Todd its always the most creative.
#8 – “?uestlove” Nike Dunk
The three color ways were cool but the red and white ones killed it!
#7 – “Year Of The Rabbit” Nike AF1
Pictures really don’t do this shoe justice, you must see it in person to get the full effect.
#6 – “A Tribe Called Quest” Nike Blazer Mid
This was hands down the best blazer to drop for 2011. I usually stay away from blazers because they make my feet look HUGE but this is one I need to add to the arsenal.
#5 – “Ronnie Fieg: Salmon Toes” Asic Gel Lyte III
These are hard!….(pause) The orange and blue go together so well… A definite must have.
#4 – Air Jordan 5 Tokyo 23
These are dope on so many levels. I wasnt able to snatch up a pair for myself but the hunt continues.
#3 – Solebox x Reebok Pump Omni Zone
Only 100 pairs were released worldwide. So consider yourself lucky if you landed a pair.
#2 – Air Mags
These kicks make my list for many reasons. For starters all of the proceeds went to a great cause Michael J Fox’s Foundation for Parkinson Research. Also I think its safe to say that sneakerheads worldwide wanted these ever since we were kids. And lastly they’re just cool.
#1 – Air Jordan Black Cement 3′s
Said to be Jordans favorite shoes, He won the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest wearing the 3′s. Even though my first pair of Jordans were the 7′s the 3′s have always held a special place in my heart. The hype that surrounds this shoe is now undeniable and everyone probably owns at-least one the many different color-ways. To sum it up it’s a dope shoe that inspires greatness.
